Farrow Walsh completes work on Phase 1 of Warwick Retirement Village

Farrow Walsh has just seen phase 1 of a retirement village in Warwick completed with phase 2 set to start.

Warwick Retirement Village is an assisted living care facility on the outskirts of Warwick, consisting of 49 luxurious one- and two-bedroom retirement apartments.

The development is on a constrained, dense site bounded by existing roads and infrastructure. Farrow Walsh worked with the Environment Agency, Severn Trent and local Planning Authority to agree appropriate highways and drainage solutions.

The construction of the properties uses a traditional foundation with a timber frame and is structurally very simple.

Gas contamination was found so the cut and fill models were adapted to retain as much material on site as possible.

With phase 2 starting this month, Farrow Walsh will be working closely with the client, Inspired Villages, to ensure effective drainage and infrastructure solutions.

This phase of the build has seen multiple options of construction explored with the client. The final decision will see the use of a steel framed construction with pre-case planks for flooring to create second floor levels with a timber roof design.

The second village site has some steep slopes and drainage systems will be employed to combat this, including permeable block paving along the entire access road and check dams at key points.
